STANDSTILL agency owners shun management.
STANDOUT agency owners embrace management.
STANDSTILL agency owners are obsessed with growing their businesses, but most are reluctant to grow their people management skills.
Agencies are people businesses. If you’re going to grow the agency, you’re going to have to grow the people you employee (both in number and their individual ability).
In my book STANDOUT OR DIE, I note that fact that most agency owners don’t start an agency because they want to be managers of people. I think that’s true: but it doesn’t mean you can sit back and ignore the challenge.
Whether they have a natural affinity to it or not, STANDOUT agency owners embrace both the challenge of people management.
If you want to grow your agency, you need to grow your team. You must become a good manager. Like so many other things in life, the more you do something the easier it gets (as you become better at it).
