I occasionally hear agency owners talking about stepping back from the day to day running of their business to focus on “other things”.
This always worries me. Whatever the motivation behind it, I rarely find the idea palatable. Agencies are not “set and forget” businesses. Far from it.
Agencies are people businesses, and as such are living and breathing things that require your constant attention. Unless you are large enough, and luck enough, to have a seasoned MD to run the business for you, you can’t adopt a hands off approach or leave your agency to its own devices.
